 Wikipedia Trail: From Elephant to Action Potential

Elephant - Link

I spent a lot of time in this class researching elephants and creating stories about them. So, it seemed only fitting to start my wikipedia trail with elephants as well.

Elephant Cognition - Link

In addition to just writing stories about elephants, I also touched on their social bonds and how intelligent the species is. From this article I learned that elephants are among the most altruistic animals on earth!

Neuron - Link

I am currently in a physiological psychology class, and have taken several other classes that involve the anatomy of the brain. So, when I saw neuron I had to click it because it goes along too well with topics I have been learning in my other classes this semester.

Action Potential - Link

Finally, I arrived at action potentials. Although small, action potentials are responsible for so much- including how I form thoughts and how I am able to type on my computer right now. This class has definitely set off a lot of action potentials in my mind!

Topic Brainstorm

[Elephant. Image Information. ]   Topic 1: Elephant Fables Elephants are remarkable creatures, and are among my favorite animals. I currently do not know of any folklore stories about elephants, so I am interested in reading some. I would like to learn how elephants are portrayed in the storytelling world. Are they gentle giants? Are they beasts? A combination? I would love to read different stories to see all the ways the elephant is represented.  Topic 2: Dog Fables In my experience, dogs are such sweet and kind animals. I am aware there is an abundance of dog fables, however I do not know much about them. I am interested in seeing how the representation of dogs in stories has evolved over the years. Maybe in the beginning they were seen more as beast, and then slowly throughout history their image changed to become more of 'man's best friend'. Introduction

All About Me Hey! My name is Katie and I am currently a senior at the University of Oklahoma. When people say time flies by in college, they aren't kidding! I feel like it was just yesterday that I moved into the dorms freshman year, and now within a couple of months I will be moving on to something new. I am currently studying biopsychology as a pre-medical student. I really enjoy sciences so I have enjoyed almost all of my classes I have takes throughout undergraduate so far. I spent the summer studying for the MCAT, and am currently in the process of applying to medical school!
