Sharing is (Not) Caring
There once was a village made up entirely of women. Years had gone by without any visitors and the women could barely remember what a man looked like. Once a woman went out of the village to gather food, and saw a flicker of light off in the distance. Curious, she headed that way because she had not seen any other people in this area since she was very young. As she got closer to the light, she saw it was a campsite with a single tent set up. Calling out to the tent, she wanted to meet whoever the outsider was. To her surprise, it was a man. She was speechless. She ran away and went back to her village to share the news with all of the women in the village. Word spread and within hours every woman was wanting to go see the man. Fifteen women took off on their horses and headed to the man's campsite. When they arrived, they called out to the man and he came out of his tent. Overwhelmed by the number of women on horseback, he started to run thinking he was being hunted. The women chased after him and tried talking to him, but he did not understand their language. Frustrated that the man was ignoring their nice words, the women grew angry. They decided to use force to stop him. The problem was though that every one of them wanted the man to themselves. So when the first woman threw a rope to catch him, they all did. Some ropes landed on his hands, some around his legs, and others around his head. They all pulled with their might to drag the man towards them, but the strain ended up tearing the man into pieces. Unsurprisingly, the man died and no woman got to take him home. Although the women were sad, they all turned to go home together without hesitation. They had lived their whole lives without men and wouldn't let one of them ruin their relationship. As for the poor man, he was left alone and in pieces.
Hi Katie,
ReplyDeleteI rally like how you handled this story I read the one that it was based off and I think that you did a really good job adapting the story. I like that they didn't fight over the man when he died but instead where able to see how that the man had made them fight in a way that they hadn't before and so they were able to put the man behind them without hesitation.
Hi Katie!
ReplyDeleteI really like this story. I think its a very interesting concept. I wanted to know what was going to happen right from the start. I think it was super cool how there was a village of only women, that is so interesting. I also think it is funny how they haven't seen a man in so long and in this story it is the first time they have in a while. I thought the end was very interesting how the man ended up dying and that they just have each other.
