Elephant - Wikipedia

 Topic 1: Elephant Fables

Elephants are remarkable creatures, and are among my favorite animals. I currently do not know of any folklore stories about elephants, so I am interested in reading some. I would like to learn how elephants are portrayed in the storytelling world. Are they gentle giants? Are they beasts? A combination? I would love to read different stories to see all the ways the elephant is represented.

Topic 2: Dog Fables

In my experience, dogs are such sweet and kind animals. I am aware there is an abundance of dog fables, however I do not know much about them. I am interested in seeing how the representation of dogs in stories has evolved over the years. Maybe in the beginning they were seen more as beast, and then slowly throughout history their image changed to become more of 'man's best friend'.

Topic 3: Feral Children

Besides the legendary Tarzan, I am not aware of any other stories of children raised by animals. This is an intriguing concept to me, and I would love to read more stories like it. I would like to learn if any of these stories are based on a true event, or if they are solely for an entertainment purpose. As for retelling these stories, I think it would be interesting to tell the story in the point of view from the animal family instead of from the human perspective.

Topic 4: Dragons

Stories that include dragons never fail to capture my attention. Such huge beasts capable of mass destruction always makes for a fascinating read. The majority of the dragon fables I have seen have been in the form of movies, usually portraying the dragon and a vicious beast, or as a very intelligent friend to a main character. I would like to know how the fables of dragons in the past portrayed them. If I were to recreate these stories, I would consider writing from the viewpoint of the dragon.

Introduction

All About Me Hey! My name is Katie and I am currently a senior at the University of Oklahoma. When people say time flies by in college, they aren't kidding! I feel like it was just yesterday that I moved into the dorms freshman year, and now within a couple of months I will be moving on to something new. I am currently studying biopsychology as a pre-medical student. I really enjoy sciences so I have enjoyed almost all of my classes I have takes throughout undergraduate so far. I spent the summer studying for the MCAT, and am currently in the process of applying to medical school! This semester I am excited for my classes, but anxious about how they will turn out with all of them online. However, it is important to be flexible, especially in a pandemic, so I am hoping to make the most of it! Besides academics, I love playing volleyball and doing other activities with my friends. My junior year I was the president of the OU Women's Club Volleyball team, and enjoyed traveling to ...

Week 5 Story: Elephant's Revenge

Elephant's Revenge      A snake heard the loud footsteps of an elephant walking towards him. He became excited because he had been waiting for this moment for days now. A mother elephant was venturing to gather some food and stopped by her usual 'itching tree'. Every couple of days she would use the tree to itch her back where pesky flies and bugs would bite her. Although she would shake the tree, and the animals in it, no damage ever resulted from it as she was careful not to harm the residents that lived there. However, the snake was evil and knew he could use her size and actions to cover up his own agenda. When she began to shake the tree, the snake slid over to a bird's nest and wacked the nest with his tail. This caused all the eggs to fall out and smack against the ground. The parent birds were just arriving back to the nest when they saw the eggs fall. The snake slivered away before he was spotted and the birds automatically assumed it was the elephant's it...
